HandBrake Video Transcoding

Website: HandBrake

We perform a simple transcode using the freely available HandBrake software, which converts a 150-second, 917MB, 4K, MKV video sample to a 1080p MP4 file using the HQ 1080p preset. Our results show strong scaling with increasing threads, which is indicative of high-performance video editing suites, albeit without any GPU acceleration.

PCMark 10 Photo Editing

Website: Futuremark

This workload involves making a series of adjustments to a set of RAW and JPG photographs using ImageMagik - an open-source image processing library - to apply a range of filters with a live preview. The images are then saved in JPG and PNG formats. GPU acceleration is left enabled for this test to give you a sense of the full potential of any given system.

Cinebench R20

Website: Maxon

This ever-present benchmark needs little introduction. Cinebench uses Maxon's Cinema 4D engine to render a photo-realistic and highly complex scene. The latest version, R20, requires about 8x the computational power than R15, and takes advantage of new features on the latest CPUs.

As Cinema 4D is a real-world application, Cinebench can be considered a real-world benchmark.
